The most expensive city to live in the U.S. is Manhattan, as shown by the map above - and the borough of Brooklyn occupies the number two slot. Third is far-off Honolulu, capital of Hawaii. Bargain-hunters should try looking in Texas, home to the three cheapest urban areas - Harlingen, Wichita Falls and McAllen. The fascinating statistics come from a new report released by the Council for Community and Economic Research, which indexed the cost of living in 300 cities across America.
